Veterinary Hospital at the Lake

Welcome to our veterinary team page! We are a dedicated group of animal lovers who are passionate about providing exceptional veterinary care to all of our patients. Our team is composed of skilled veterinarians, knowledgeable veterinary technicians, and friendly support staff who work together to ensure that your pet receives the highest standard of care.

Jane Barber DVM, MS, DACT

Dr. Jane Barber has devoted her whole life to the well-being of animals. She set her sights on becoming a veterinarian when she was just eleven. She did just that and a whole lot more. After eight years to become a veterinarian, she went on to nine more years of specialty training in behavior and theriogenology (reproduction and neonatology). She spent so many years in school that she did not settle down to marry and start a family until she was forty. Dr. Barber and her husband, Scott Nephew, have two “tall, dark, and handsome” sons, Preston and Jonathan. She is active in state, national, and international professional organizations and in the Lake Norman community in which her family resides. Dr. Barber believes that 60 is the new 30. In her 60s, she became licensed to teach Zumba when her instructor fell ill and could no longer teach the class. She still teaches the class today. Fascinated with cetaceans, she (also in her 60s) went on an excursion to swim with humpback whales in the middle of the ocean. Her work as a veterinarian is her passion; she loves it and her patients. Each day spent in service to her fur friends and families is her joy and privilege.

Lacey Rosenberg, Associate DVM, DACT

Dr. Lacey Rosenberg was born in northern New Jersey and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She completed her undergraduate studies at the California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo before earning her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University in 2016. She then completed a rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency Medicine at VCA PetCare in Santa Rosa, CA, and worked as a general practitioner in the area the following year. Having always had a special interest in reproduction, Dr. Rosenberg decided to pursue specialty training by completing a Residency in Comparative Theriogenology at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in July 2020. Dr. Rosenberg is a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists. She enjoys all aspects of canine and feline reproduction and is looking forward to offering advanced reproductive veterinary services to the community. Dr. Rosenberg spent the last year providing Theriogenology Services at a large specialty and emergency hospital in Central New Jersey before moving to the beautiful Lake Norman area to join Veterinary Hospital at the Lake.

Dr. Rosenberg is a breeder and fancier of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels – she regularly exhibits her Cavaliers in Conformation Shows in the American Kennel Club and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA. She also enjoys traveling, reading, and exploring the outdoors. She is looking forward to experiencing all that Lake Norman and the Greater Charlotte Area has to offer!
